Sally Walker Armstrong went to be with her Lord on
December 17, 2017. Born to Luther and Sallie Walker on June 11, 1928, Sally grew
up in Arkadelphia, Arkansas and graduated from Henderson State Teachers College
with a BA in Education. Since 1953, she has lived in San Antonio. |
|
Sally
actively and lovingly raised two sons,
Larry and Danny. She was their first
teacher and coach which took her to many
baseball, basketball, track and football
venues to watch and cheer them on. She
was always involved with her neighbors
and their children making lifelong
friends for the family along the way.
Sally stayed in the center of her boys'
lives, attending events and celebrations
and adding her spark to make each of
these even more special. |
|
Sally was
Grandmother, or Gmo, and was cherished
by those who called her that. She played
with them, attended school programs and
concerts, sat through many games of all
kinds and lovingly praised Jimmy,
Lindsey, and Kelley each time. Sally
proudly attended their baptisms,
confirmations, graduations, and a
wedding, when Edward was added to the
grandchild list, and was always the
heart of the family event. Her role
increased as the title of Great Gmo, or
GGmo, was added and a new blessing,
Dylan, was hers to love. |
|
Sally was
a friend to everyone she met. A member
of Coker UMC since 1961, she was active
in many different groups there along
with the Yellow Roses, The San Antonio
Walkers Group, and the Countryside
Garden Club. From backyards, her sons'
schools, her church, and even Razorback
games came many lifelong acquaintances
that called her friend. Sally also loved
traveling and going with a group just
made the memories last longer. To say
that she loved games would be an
understatement-she was devoted to her
Mahjong and Bridge days and all of those
who played with her. She will be missed
by so many. |
|
Sally was preceded in death
by her parents, her brothers
Frank Walker, Robert Walker,
and his wife, Amy. |
|
She is survived by her son
Larry Armstrong and wife,
Cyndi, Danny Armstrong and
wife, Lori; Grandchildren
Jimmy Armstrong, Lindsey
Armstrong, Kelley and Edward
Garza; Great Grandchild,
Dylan Garza; and very
special nieces and nephews. |
