Jay entered eternal rest after a 3 year battle with cancer. He was at peace and in the presence of his family.

Jay is survived by his partner, Paula Wissman; his mother, Barbara Jakiela; his father and stepmother Peter & Sue Thorne; brother John Thorne (Ileana); sisters Lucy Thorne and Ellen Thorne Lane; nieces & nephews Dana, Melanie & Henry Thorne and Joey, Emma & Matty Lane; numerous aunts & uncles and cousins.

Jay was a Renaissance man who was a Master Mechanic, the consummate handy man as well as an astronomer, a model airplane builder, a birder and a Ruby Life Master in Duplicate Bridge.

A Celebration of Jay's Life was held at Fiesta Bridge Club on April 16, 2016.
