Grady T. Watkins of San Antonio, Texas died August 21, 2005 in Floresville, Texas at the age of 75 after an extended illness. He is survived by his devoted wife of 18 years, Donna B. Watkins. He was born March 7, 1930 in Lubbock, Texas, the only child of the late Haven (Sawyer) Watkins and Grady R. Watkins, a local builder and State Farm agent. Grady was an adventuresome youth, spelunking in Inner Space Caverns before they were “discovered.” He also loved hunting and fishing with his father and friends in the area. “G.T.” was a graduate of Georgetown I.S.D. schools, graduating from Georgetown High School in 1948. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Southwestern University in 1954, majoring in Business and Mathematics. At Southwestern, he was a member of the Iota chapter of Kappa Sigma Fraternity. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Grady was an accomplished Bridge player and Emerald Life Master. He served in the United States Marine Corps in Korea. He married Mary Carolyn Garrett in 1953. He is survived by their daughters, Dr. Carole L. Rigsby and husband Dr. Richard Rigsby, and Mrs. Melanie Haven Cravey and her husband Michael. He is survived by his grandchildren Rachel Kay Rigsby of San Antonio, Texas and Lauren Carole Rigsby, who is a current freshman at Southwestern University. He is survived by his grandchildren Michael Lincoln Cravey, Carolyn Haven Cravey and Jacqueline Abegail “Abby” Cravey. He is survived by his step-daughters Mary Barnes, Deanna Motakef and husband Ramin, and Deborah Harding. He is survived by his grandchildren Brandon Barnes, Stormie Barnes, Larissa Harding, Bryan Harding, Morgan Motakef and Michael Motakef. |
