Bill Scarpero |
William J. Scarpero, age
93, Lt. Col. USAF (Ret), passed away on June 5, 2013. He was born
April 26, 1920, in New Orleans, LA. William attended Warren Easton
High School in New Orleans and graduated from Louisiana State
University in 1942. He had a 30 year Army and Air Force career as a
navigator serving during WWII, Korea and Vietnam, and many years in
Air Force Data Processing management, retiring in 1970. He later
worked for H&R Block in the tax preparation business. |
He was a bridge life
master, club director and teacher, and an active member of Unit 172
of the American Contract Bridge League. He was especially dedicated
to the activities of the Fiesta Bridge Club (formerly known as
Turtle Creek Bridge Club) and won many sectional and regional events
with his favorite partners. |
He was preceded in death
by his sisters Carrie and Ethel; brother Ben; and his wife of 56
years, Elizabeth. He is survived by his sons Donald and William, Jr.
and their wives Amira and Pamela; his grandson Carlos, his wife
Kate, and their son David; grandson Tony and his daughter Isabella;
grandson Peter and his wife Olga; and granddaughter Corey Holland,
her husband Ryan, and their daughter Emerald. |
A funeral service with
full military honors was held on Sunday, June 9, 2013 with interment
at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery. |

2015 and 2017.
