Fort Western Unit 183 Board Meeting Minutes April 25, 2007 Present: Kay Jones, Katye Kowierschke, Byron Taylor, Tom Hughes, Steve Shirey, Judy Staser, Mary Hoger, Margot Hirsch Kay Jones, Board President, called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. Margot Hirsch announced that the approved March minutes were posted on the bulletin board and the website. Mary Hoger gave the Treasurer's Report. The Unit has a positive balance. The renewed Certificate of Deposit is earning 5.35%. OLD BUSINESS The board approved the purchase of a new computer system that will meet the Fort Worth Studio's needs. The needs include being able to use floppy disks and/or CD's. Mary will work with Diane Washabaugh to make the purchase. Steve Shirey will obtain anti-virus software and DSL. NEW BUSINESS Steve asked about scheduling the Non-Life Master Tournament. The tournament discussion was tabled until the next meeting. Meanwhile, Margot will check with Caron Peck to determine what dates ADBC might have already chosen. Kay identified some potential Sectional conflicts to avoid: Wichita Falls, Dallas, Fort Worth, and Abilene. Also, the number of directors for the tournament was discussed. Based on last year's attendance, three directors will be needed. Judy Staser agreed to sell her set of metal boards to the Unit for use in the Fort Worth Studio. The price is $150.00. The studio's current set is old and damaged. It is practically impossible to purchase new metal boards anymore. Judy's set consists of twenty-seven boards. Board #28 will be donated and 29-36 will be used from the old set. Lillian raised a total of $91.55 in donations for the new boards. The board appreciates Lillian and all of the donors. Byron Taylor indicated the need for a new coffee pot. After discussing and examining the coffee pot, the board agreed not to purchase a new pot at this time. Margot reported that the ACBL Charity Foundation 2006 Rebate is $1921.00. She will request the breakdown of contributions by game so that the rebate can be proportionally dispersed to various unit charities like last year. The Foundation will issue the checks.
